Here since 1999 (oh!, already ?), TuxFamily tries to provide a good and reliable service to promote the free software community and to give a visible place to each project. The hosting is free and we don't add banners or pop-ups to the hosted websites. You don't even have to advertise for TuxFamily! If you need it, just have it ! You can also use your own domain name if you have one.
TuxFamily hosting facilities are running VHFFS, which is a sub project of TuxFamily that allows to manage a massive virtual hosting platform.
Services
We provide the following hosting services for open-source related projects:
- Web hosting (PHP4 and PHP5 are supported) with logs and detailed statistics
- MySQL and PostgreSQL databases hosting
- CVS repositories
- Subversion repositories
- GIT repositories
- Mailing-lists
- Handle of your domain (DNS hosting)
- Popboxes and mail-forward for your domain
- Download area of 1 GB with detailed statistics, can be increased if you need more space
- Quota of 100 MB for all groups, not including download area, can be increased if you need more space
- Handling of your data through FTP, FTPS (FTP over SSL), SSH and SFTP

April fool !

Of course, all this "moving to Iceland" thing was our annual april fool :) Thanks all for your mails : those who laughed with us and those who were affraid of the downtime because of our trip ;)
Please don't forget that our donation campaign is still running ;) Thanks again to all the donators ! we are really happy to see that you are supporting us.

Tux is moving back to Iceland \o/

We are pleased to inform you that TuxFamily's servers are going to move to Iceland on Tuesday, June 19th.
Our main hoster have just finished his new datacenter and asked us if we wanted to put our servers there. Of course, we are delighted to be the first organization to use the new datacenter : The naturally cold weather and the environment friendly electricity production of Iceland allow to reduce a datacenter's operating costs from 10 to 20%.
The only difficulty is that we have to move the servers by ourselves because our hoster don't want to handle the costs of carrying our stuff to Iceland. We noticed that we can save on shipping costs by sending the servers by sea through New York in order to pay in US Dollars. As the Euro is strong, we can save 10 % which is quite nice regarding to our banking account situation.
All the services will be down during the trip that should last between 27 and 34 days depending on the weather.
Secondary servers are not going anywhere so your mails won't be lost during this period ;)
